Putney's merry men fresh from a beating last Saturday but a great cup win against the team at the top of the league above were a few men down on Saturday and Edwards took the helm in Hughes’ absence. The skipper lost the toss on a glorious and hot day and Putney were predictably sent into the field to the groans of [insert swear word].
GP and Grace opened up the attack and it only took an over before Grace captured his first wicket thanks to a great catch by Lilja at mid-on. GP joined the... View |

Putney came into the cup semi final on Sunday knowing they would have to perform exceptionally to have a chance of reaching the final as the opposition, Sanderstead CC, were top of the first division and unbeaten in 2011. Despite this the team were excited about testing themselves against excellent opposition and the chance to play in a final if they could pull it off!
Having won the toss Putney elected to bat on a tired, used looking pitch which had seen better days with the general consensu... View |

Putney 1st XI travelled to Woodmansterne for their first competitive game of the season in the League Cup.
Having won the toss and putting the opposition in to bat Putney were rewarded with an early wicket when Grace deceived the batsman with a full length ball to disturb the timbers.
At the other end Peters G bowled an excellent spell down wind, collecting a well deserved wicket thanks to a sharp catch at first slip from Peters J.
Wickets continued to fall with James Peters the pick of... View |

Putney 1s took on Worplesdon and Burpham on a bright but damp day. Having lost the toss Will and Euan were soon at the crease facing a damp and slow wicket. Will was soon on his way back following an ugly attempt to get us off to a positive start, evidence of this should soon be available on the website thanks to some good camera work for Tim Grace, keep a look out!!
Mark joined Euan and they batted sensibly to get to 50 before Mark missed a full toss and was bowled for 19, and Euan followed... View |

Putney travelled to Whiteley under leaden skies and a heavy threat of rain. After a brief shower the start was delayed meaning a revised 81 over game.
Putney won an important toss and immediately looked impressive with the ball as GP and Tim bowled 7 straight maidens first up to put Whiteley Village under big pressure. When both openers fell the score stood at 7-2 from 10 overs and they never really recovered. Tim and GP were followed by Chinny, Will and JP, who looked to attack in an effort... View |

Putney started their pre-season campaign with a game against Bath Cricket Club in the beautiful surroundings of the spa town.
Putney lost the toss and were asked to field first. With a good pitch, fast outfield and one man having still not arrived it looked like it might be a long afternoon against a highly rated Bath batting line up. Grace and Henshall opened up and bowled tidily, limiting the scoring and allowing the latter to pick up a well deserved wicket. Meanwhile the other opener playe... View |

The opening fixture of the SW15 trophy will certainly go down in the history books as a titanic battle between two evenly matched sides. Despite a few old stalwarts, Putney fielded a side with a number of new faces, who come the end of the day, would all have acquitted themselves admirably to the cause.
Putney lost the toss and were put into bat. Some strong length bowling from the Roehampton openers on a new track saw the early dismissal of Chipper and Carlo. Paterson and Wrighton set about... View |

Putney and Slinfold played out another memorable game of cricket, as our 'there and back in a day' tour of the Sussex countryside continued. We opened the batting with Will Middleton (45) starting off with some fine front foot drives. Slinfold made early breakthroughs to remove Max and then a little later Sam Sud (the youth policy). However James Peters entered the fray and struck a quick confident 50, including one four which went straight up in the sky and landed just in front of the spectato... View |
